Ukulele Festival Rehearsal

On Saturday 17th September the Milford Ukulele group went to the Rugby World Cup Water front 'Cloud' to have a rehearsal for the Kiwilele Festival which will be on November. There were lots of ukulele players! The members of the Kiwilele went up the stage and all of us played through the song books which were handed out at the beginning of the year. Some rugby supporters were there and because of the big rugby match that was on that day (Australia vs. Ireland). Some ukulele players from our school were on the 3 News channel. All the players had a great time strumming, singing and some dancing and they are all working hard for the real festival in Term 4.

There were 6 certificates given out (Georgia and Cynara in Room 1, Harrison and Rhiana in Room 2, Syvert and Yeni in Room 4). Also, the Mathex competition winners got their certificates (Jun, Micheal, William and Grace in Room 4). Then, the Year 6 students heard Yeni playing the Flute. After that the teachers reminded the Year 6 about the school rules. The Year 6s’ have had a great time so far this year and they will have a better time in the second half of the year. The Year 6 students are looking forward to their visit to TNIS to experience what an Intermediate school is like.

Spellathon!

On 17th of June, Milford School had a Spellathon to fundraise for the school. The lists and the sponsorship forms were given out about 2 weeks before the event and students who were participating had to learn their words and get as many sponsorships as they could. For example, if a person sponsors 10 cents per question and if the participate who got sponsored gets 25 out of 25, the person who sponsored have to donate $2.50. Milford School had a great time doing Spellathon and we all improved our spelling knowledge.
